Overview

Sensei Richard Poage is the defending National Koshiki Champion for the last 2 years. In fact, he has won the Koshiki National Championships 3 out of the last four years. 

Richard is also ranked Number 1 in Kata (forms), Number 1 in Kumite (sparring) and Number 1 in Kobudo (weapons) by the United States Karate Alliance.

Sensei Poage also teaches karate full time at Basis of Scottsdale. This is an accelerated middle school/high school that teaches Karate as an alternative to physical education. In May of 2008, Newsweek Magazine ranked Basis as the number one High School in the United States.
